Krispy Kreme Doughtnuts is Growing in the UK

There will be no need for UK consumers to drive far to get their favorite Krispy Kreme doughnuts.  Krispy Kreme UK announced in Businessweek that it will add more stores in various locations in the next few years.  This move shows how successful Krispy Kreme has grown from its first store in UK eight years ago.  Krispy Kreme is now available in 21 countries.

Krispy Kreme Doughnut Corp. is expanding in the U.K. through a new development deal with its franchisee there.

Krispy Kreme UK Ltd. plans to open an additional 35 locations in the U.K. over the next six years, the Winston-Salem, N.C., company said Monday.

Krispy Kreme UK currently has 45 doughnut shops there.

“We have worked hard over the last eight years to successfully grow the brand here and now look forward to building on that success in the future by bringing the Krispy Kreme experience to more people in more places across the country,” Krispy Kreme UK Joint Managing Director Richard Cheshire said in a statement.

Krispy Kreme has more than 660 stores in 21 countries. In August the company reported that its second-quarter profit jumped, boosted by a one-time gain on the sale of its Mexican business interests and an 11 percent rise in revenue.
