Competition Herriman Jiffy Lube Team Shows It’s Among Nation’s Best
The Jiffy Lube crew in Herriman is best described as well oiled — a term that speaks to its efficiency and professionalism rather than the petroleum products the guys regularly put into the automobiles they service.
Need proof? Consider this.
A five-member team from the Herriman store recently captured second place in a nationwide competition that pitted more than 2,000 Jiffy Lube crews from across the country against one another.
“It was a great accomplishment, particularly because several of them had to be talked into entering the competition in the first place,” said Rod Fawson, a Utah district manager for Jiffy Lube International Inc.
The Herriman team consisted of Quincy Hooker, customer service adviser; Austin Corbell, courtesy technician; Wes Van Valkenburg, lower bay technician; and Anthony Thompson, upper bay technician. Stephen Poulsen was the team leader and manager.
“When we started we didn’t really think we were good enough to get very far in the competition,” Poulsen said. “We kept working at it, and got better and better as we went along.”
During the competition, each team was judged on its speed and accuracy in servicing automobiles, how well members communicated with one another and how closely the team stuck to the company’s procedures manuals.
