Developer Tied To Yogen Fruz Moves HQ To Chili
The real estate developer who last year purchased the upstate New York franchising rights for the frozen yogurt chain Yogen Früz has moved his headquarters from Florida to Chili.
George Traikos, whose Traikos Real Estate Group is also involved in redeveloping the historic Academy Building on Fitzhugh Street and the James Cunningham, Son & Co. carriage factory on Litchfield Street, said the move allows him to manage both the stores and the building projects “more effectively.”
He said he expects to add four to seven jobs at the new headquarters at 100 Beaver Road in Chili and 10 to 12 workers at every new Yogen Früz outlet that opens.
The first local store is already open at Eastview Mall in Victor; Traikos plans to open two more in the Rochester region this year and 15 more over the next five years.
Through the upstate franchising operation, Traikos has said he hopes to open 100 of the shops upstate over the next five or six years. Yogen Früz, which specializes in yogurt desserts and smoothies, has 1,100 stores in 28 countries.
The franchising deal with the Toronto-based Yogen Früz extends to Buffalo, Syracuse and the North Country.
“We have 53 counties,” Traikos said. “Everything north of Westchester and Rockland counties.”
